I want to delete Social Security income that I had entered for my wife. No matter what I try, the original amount is still noted as income. I want to delete it.

I want to delete Social Security income that I had entered for my wife. No matter what I try, the original amount is still noted as income. I want to delete it.

To delete this income, type social security benefits in the Find window, then hit enter, then the Jump To.  You cannot change answers to Yes or No until you have left the answer as Yes and gone through the entire interview to delete anything you entered prior.  Then you can change to No.  For example, if you entered lump sum dates or amounts prior, you need to leave the answer as Yes, you did receive them until you go all the way back through and delete the dates and the amounts you already entered before you can change the answer to No.

If you're talking about an income summary that reflects the total you entered and it will not change until ll entries are deleted from the section. It's not used in any calculation on the return and is not the same as the taxable amount.
