I've never filed taxes before but received an 1099 tax form so will I have to pay any money or back? Or am I basically just reporting the income to the IRS?

I've never filed taxes before but I took some surveys online and made over $600

If the Form 1099-Misc you received reports your income in Box 7 then you need to report the income to the IRS and pay self-employment tax.  If the income is reported in Box 3, and this is your only income, then you are not required to file a tax return.

See the TurboTax FAQ below for steps on entering Form 1099-Misc information in TurboTax.  Click "See entire answer" for the full page view.
