I retired in 2016. What information do I need to acquire for a W-2, since I no longer have an employer?

If you did not work in 2017 and do not have a W-2 you can delete the employer information if it transferred in from your 2016 return, and then skip W-2's.

If you are now receiving Social Security:    Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security to enter your SSA1099.

If you are receiving income from a pension or retirement account:    Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R
