I received a 1099-C after I already e-filed my taxes. It was a discharge of debt in excess of $1,000. Can I file this form with my next year return?

Are discharge of debts looked at as extra income?  Can I just file this form with my next year return?

No, you cannot wait until next year. You will have to file an amended 2017 return. You cannot file an amended return yet. You must wait for your original return to be fully processed (you get your refund).

A 1099-C is usually taxable. There are a few exceptions. For a full discussion, see  https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/4055947-1099c-cancellation-debt-bankruptcy
