Yes, you can wait at least until the IRS has processed your return and sent your refund (if any). Then wait two to three months to see if you receive a letter from the IRS revising your original return. This is unlikely if there is no additional tax due.

In any case, you have up to three years to file an amended return. For more info, see IRS Tax Topic 308 - Amended Returns
