I receive a pension from my deceased husband who would have been 75 in 2020. Is there something I should be doing to collect money against his SS? I'm only 60

In most cases, a widow or widower qualifies for survivor benefits if he or she is at least 60 and had been married to the deceased for at least nine months at the time of death.

You will need to apply for survivor benefits by phone at 800-772-1213 or in person at your local Social Security office (you cannot report a death or apply for survivors benefits online.

Note: Local Social Security offices are currently closed to walk-in visits due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
