I need to fund traditional IRA. I filed married filing jointly. Do I have to fund two separate IRA accounts for me and my wife or can I just fund one IRA account?

If you and your wife each want to contribute to an IRA account, you will need to establish separate IRA accounts.

There is a $5500 limit ($6500 over age 49) per tax payer. So, for example, if you want to put in $10,000 total; you can only put $5500 in yours and would have to out $4500 in hers.
