I need to create a 1099 for someone that I paid money to how do I do that?
TurboTax Online
If you need to create/issue a 1099(s) in TurboTax Online you will need the TurboTax Online Self-Employed Version (upgrade instructions below, if needed) and then following these steps below will allow you to create and issue the 1099 form:
- Log in and if you see “Take me to my return”, select that and it will take you to welcome screen
- On the Welcome screen, you should see “Manage Your Return” section and “Manage Your Account” section.
- Under “Manage Your Return,” you should see “Create W-2s and 1099s”
- Once you select “Create W-2s and 1099s,” another window will pop up and this will be the Quick Employer Forms window.
- This is where you either log in or create an account and then create 1099s.
How do I upgrade or switch to a higher version of TurboTax Online?
- If your return isn't already open, sign in and click the orange Take me to my return button.
- Click Upgrade, located near the top of your screen. Don't see it?
- In the pop-up window, scroll down to the bottom, select the version you'd like to upgrade to, and click Upgrade Now.
- Before you can print or e-file, we'll prompt you to
enter your payment information. You can also prepay at any time by doing
this:
- Go to the File topic, and then click Start or Revisit to the right of Review your order.
- Keep going until you see How would you like to pay for TurboTax? On that screen, select Pay with your credit card.
- Enter your credit card information and then click Pay Now.
- Sign out and then sign back in to access your prior-year return or other upgrade feature.
