Hi and thank you for your response, where do i find Add A State at, I have searched and all I get is the screen to do this years taxes
I may have read your question incorrectly.
To clarify,
You are talking about your 2020 tax year return, yes?
Did you try to e-file it and it was rejected?
Did you then paper-file and mail it?
Did you do anything with it?
Are you using a Desktop or Online Account.
You are talking about your 2020 tax year return, yes? Yes I am
Did you try to e-file it and it was rejected? Yes it was
Did you then paper-file and mail it? Yes I mailed it and still nothing from IRS
Did you do anything with it? I have called and called and submitted paperwork, they only say it is in the pile that has yet to be touched
Are you using a Desktop or Online Account. I did the online which was
I see,
and I assume that adding the Social Security Number will not change your refund or tax due.
In this case there is not much you can do.
You can't amend the 2020 return unless it makes a difference in your tax due or refund amount. (If it would, then you could amend and file a 2020 1040X)
The IRS is truly backlogged, so it is believable they have not gotten to your original 2020 return yet.
It would be handy to be able to do a total "DO-OVER" with the IRS, but you have to wait until that original return is processed.
