I moved my tax home from NJ to CA during 2017, but was late to inform SSA and retirement plan payer, who they kept my old NJ address until end 2017. How do I allocate??

The income allocation is pretty straighforward: report to NJ on a part-year return as NJ-source income the soc. sec. and retirement income you received while you lived there. Same for the Calif part-year return: report as Calif-source the total SS & retirement less the amounts reported to NJ.

You do not have double-taxed income so don't go down the path of the Other state tax credit.
