You would not have a W-2 if you were retired. You would likely have a 1099-R if you are receiving a pension or retirement account distributions or a SSA-1099 if you are receiving social security income.
If you did not work for an employer you will not have a W-2. W-2's come from employers. If you are retired, you might have other forms of income such as Social Security, pension income, investment income, income from a retirement account like an IRA or 401k....etc etc. etc.
What tax documents do you have? If you have literally NO income, then you do not have a reason to file a tax return.
