I'm ready to file my federal return, but I keep getting asked for payer info about a 1099 that I do not have and it shows no gross distribution. I don't know what it is.

Perhaps it was a leftover from a prior year and you no longer have an account with that financial institution or did not have transactions in 2017 that would result in a 1099 issued. (1099-B for example, no stock sales this year).

If that is the case this FAQ may help you remove that 1099 from your return.
