When you first enter a 1099-R for a joint return, you can indicate the spouse who owns the form by selecting that person's name after This Form 1099-R belongs to. (Click the first screenshot below to enlarge it for reference.) The default is the first name on the return (in this case, your husband). To change the owner of the forms to you:

  • Open (continue) return if you don't already have it open.
  • Inside TurboTax, search for 1099-R and then click or tap the "Jump to" link in the search results.
  • On the Your 1099-R Entries screen, click Edit next to the first 1099-R you wish to update. (Click the second screenshot below for reference.)
  • On the Verify the Owner of This 1099-R screen, select your name, then click Continue.
  • Continue through this section of the tax interview. When you get back to the Your 1099-R Entries screen, repeat this process to change the ownership of the remaining 1099-Rs from your husband to you.
