I have a 6yr old with autism who receives SSI benefits. Do I label him as disabled when I file?

I am aware I do not have to claim the actual funds we receive

There is no tax advantage to saying your child is disabled at this time since he is only 6.   When he is older --- if you still need to pay a childcare provider to take care of him while you work when he is over the age of 12, you will want to say he is disabled so that you can still get the childcare credit.  But for now, there is no special credit or deduction at stake for saying he is disabled.
