I have a 1099-R for an inherited IRA distribution. State tax (correct amount) was withheld and reported in box 14. TT will not transmit my state return, says incorrect.

TT offers box to check, showing amount is verified. Even though I've checked the box, it won't apply and transmit return.

Enter the amount in box 1 of the Form 1099-R in box 16, state distribution.  You will now be able to e-file the tax return.

The amount in box 16 for state distribution does NOT flow to the state income tax return.

Anything in box 16?   For state boxes,  if box 16 is empty or zero then for box 16 State Distribution put the same amount that’s in box 1.  If box 14 is blank you can leave boxes 14,15 & 16 blank.  Filling in box 16 state distribution will not affect your state return.   No one who has done that and filed has reported any problems.
