I had a job transition early in 2018, and I’ve been having trouble finding my W-2 from my former employer. I just realized why. Apparently my employer somehow had my social security number wrong

What should I do now?

Contact your employer and get a corrected copy of the W-2.  The IRS needs to match the W-2s issued by the employer with W-2s included in the employees' returns.

They can't do that if the SSNs don't match.
