I entered a 1099 from a company that paid me. Why am I being asked questions as if I own the company? How do I avoid that?

The questions asked by TurboTax are not about the company that paid you. They are about your self-employed business.

If you do not have a separate name for your business, use your name. The activity is the kind of work you did for the company.
