I can't get Qualified Charitable Deduction to be removed as income from my Required Minimum Distribution

Why won't TurboTax on the web not remove a Qualified Charitable Deduction from my Require Minimum Distribution?

Are you sure that the QCD was not removed from your income? Look at lines 4a and 4b on your Form 1040. Is line 4b less than line 4a by the amount of the QCD? If so, your taxable income has been reduced by the QCD. The abbreviation QCD should also be to the left of the amount on line 4b.

If line 4b is equal to line 4a, after you entered the Form 1099-R did you continue through the questions in TurboTax? You should have come to a screen that asked if you transferred all or part of the IRA distribution to charity. Did you answer that you did, and then enter the amount of the QCD?

The QCD was accounted for properly when one of the on-line help people gave me access to the actual 1040 form the web app was creating. Apparently there's no way to confirm that while filling out the form information. One has to trust the programming. Again on the income summary the full RMD was displayed as taxable income with no recognition of the QCD. The reduction of taxable income was just not confirmible. Now I'm trying to file and can't retrieve my completed forms or print them. Big delay. Not sure why that is.
