I am trying to complete the final review of all my entered information and it is asking me to review the Canada Pension section. This does not apply to me and can't skip.

Two things to do:

1. The Canadian pension section is next to the 1099-R, 401k section. Please return to the income section and double check that nothing was accidentally entered there.

2. Delete
 If you are using:

  1. On the top right, there is a FORMS button.
  2. Click on FORMS.
  3. Locate the form you want to delete.
  4. Click on the form name.
  5. Below the form, bottom left, select DELETE FORM button.

Caution for online:

If the information returns, the program believes it too important to delete so you will need to:

  1. select Tax Tools
  2. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Topic Search
  3. a new popup will allow you to find and select the form
  4. Edit the form to remove any errant entries

I am trying to complete the final review of all my entered information and it is asking me to review the Canada Pension section. This does not apply to me and can't skip.

For two days I have been working on Retirement section of my TT Premier desktop return.  The interview keeps asking about Canadian Pension information.  I did NOT select as it has never applied to me.  I delete the form and save the return.  As soon as I reopen the program to continue, it reappears again.

Obviously this is a glitch in TT .  Assume I'll be in the same position as the original poster when I get to the final review stage.  I've been a TT user for 20+ years.

Do I report this to TT?

Here is what I did.  At the Canadian pension question, I clicked the trash can icon and deleted the form and it seem to resolve the same issue you both mentioned in the question.  TurboTax needs to do a better job at this question or provide an option that indicates "not applicable".  You do not need to go to forms to delete it, as a matter of fact, forms did not provide a deletion option because the form hadn't been completed or data entered and saved.   Thank you both for the help.

Thanks so much - the trash can method worked perfectly !!!

I'd mark your response as the "best answer" but I can't find the "best answer" option 😂

I am having the same issue. I'm a US citizen and my income sources have nothing to do with Canada.  I have deleted the form, but Turbo Tax still takes me back thru the interview process to the Canadian Pension page.  Turbo Tax - please fix.

I have the same issue and clicking the trash can and deleting does not work. It keeps reappearing.

We have information that in some cases this situation could have been created if you imported a 1099-R from your financial institution. If this applies to you, we recommend that you delete that 1099-R and re-enter it manually.

If you are in TurboTax Online, follow these instructions to delete the 1099-R.

If you are using a Desktop version of TurboTax, follow these instructions.

So how do you know which 1099-R to delete?  And why should this happen if your 1099-R comes from an American company and you have no Canadian Pension?

We recommend deleting all Forms 1099-R in this instance and then type the data in manually.

This seems like a silly thing to do when “importing” is a feature we utilize so we don’t have to manually input 1099s.  Why can’t TurboTax have a software update that fixes this issue??????

strange, I can't find the trashcan option when in that area...Contacted Turbo Tax and they acted like they never heard of the problem??

What version are you using?

In most versions, the summary displays the pension distributions with the trashcan to the right of the entry.

Depending upon the limitations of your display, you may have to slide the bar at the bottom of your screen to the right to view the trashcan icon.

Similar issue, but I did not import any 1099-Rs (or any other forms - entered all info manually). Trash can method mentioned by others worked.

I, too, am having this Canadian Pension issue.  I enter all of my 1099-R and SSA-1099 forms manually.  I have started over once, and entered everything again with the same issue.  I deleted the Canadian Pension, but is still shows up in the review list.  Any other ideas?
