I am on SS retirement and have not other source of income so NC state wont accept that, what do i do?

You are not normally required to file a tax return if your only source of income is from social security, that is why you can't e-file your tax return. You can mail the tax return in if you want, but if you are not required to file a tax return, you should not do so unless you have a good reason.

You are not normally required to file a federal or NC state tax return if your only source of income is from social security.  So, why are you trying to file an NC return.
