I am on disability through work and Social Security. Do I have a max that I can earn through a 1099 with a different company?

Yes, there is a maximum limit. You can't make more than  $1,260 per month in 2020 (or $2,110 if you're blind) and continue to receive your benefits. 

Generally, SSDI recipients can't start doing what's considered "substantial gainful activity" receive disability benefits at the same time.
