Was this the sale of your personal residence?

No, This 1099-S reflects income from a timber cut that was gifted to us. We don't own the land, we just received proceeds from the value of the timber.
This income can be reported as an investment sale. The cost basis is the same as what the donor paid for the timber. It may be zero unless there was a cost designated for timber when the property was originally purchased (not common).
