I am 66 and only receive under 12,000.00 in social security benefits and have no other income, can I get a refund

If you do not have federal income taxes withheld from your Social Security benefits, box 6 on Form SSA-1099, and the SS benefits are the only income being reported on the tax return, then there is no reason to file a tax return and there is no refund if you have no taxes withheld.

If you do not have federal income taxes withheld from your Social Security benefits, box 6 on Form SSA-1099, and the SS benefits are the only income being reported on the tax return, then there is no reason to file a tax return and there is no refund if you have no taxes withheld.
