I already filed my 2016 tax return and just received a 1099-R from a 401(k) rollover into a new employer's 401(k). Since it is not taxable, do I still file a 1040X?

To file a technically correct and complete tax return you should file an amended return showing the Form 1099-R distribution and rollover.
If the distribution code shown on the 1099-R is a “G” or “H” then you are probably less likely to get any correspondence from the IRS for not reporting the rollover distribution on your tax return in the event that you decide not to amend your return.
After your return has been accepted by the IRS, see the following for instructions to amend your return using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax.
