how TurboTax will not let me edit my 1099-r?

Says my 1099-R needs review but it will not let me select to edit!

Here's how to navigate to the 1099-R section using the quick jump-to link:
 

• TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1099-R (select this button).
   
• TurboTax Desktop: Select Search Topics. 
  • Search for and select 1099-R.
     

To manually navigate in TurboTax Online:
 

1. Under Tax Home, Select Federal
    
2. Then Wages & Income
    
3. Under Retirement Plans and Social Security, 
    
4. Next to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) select Start

TurboTax lists my 1099-R and says it needs review but there is nothing showing how to edit or delete!!!

No "pencil" icon on the rt-had side to click to start the Edit?

(If you are on a phone....PLEASE get off it and go to a larger screen pad or full computer)

I only use my full computer and there are no icons displayed to the right of the message: Needs review.

This is problem with TurboTax software.

Ahhh, I thought you were asking to edit or delete your 1099-R.

Not just the annoying text in the menu.  You could try ignoring it.....don't know if the software really thinks something is missing or not.

TurboTax should have icons next to the 1099-R so I can edit or delete but they are not there.

It is listing the 1099-R from 2024 and telling me it needs reviewing, either to edit or delete but

I have NO access to do so!  It is definitely the software that has a problem!

You could try posting a picture of where you're at that won't let you edit  (without any personal info in it)...and maybe someone can figure out what's happening.

I have no problem getting to my 1099-R.  The problem is getting TurboTax to let me edit it!!!

1) if you are using the "Desktop" software, switch to Forms Mode, click on the 1099-R in  the left-side screen, then delete it in the rt-side main screen.  Then, if you need to enter that 1099-R for 2025 taxes, go back to the interview and recreate it, or skip it entirely if you have no 1099-R to enter for 2025..

2) if you are using the "Online" software, after you are actually in your tax file somewhere, go to the left side menu.. and in the <Tax tools<<Tools menu a pop-up will appear that will let you delete any 1099-R forms in your file.  Then you can return to the regular interview to either create any 1099-R you have this year, or skip it entirely if you have no 1099-R to enter for 2025.

I'm using the desktop software on my computer.  I don't want to delete my 1099-R.  I want to edit it but there is no icons displayed to edit or delete the 1099-R.  I'm on the "Your 1099-R Summary" page which lists my 1099-R's.

Well, that's what's worked for others.  Deleting the forms entirely first

BUT

What you could try instead is to Use Forms Mode to enter some data directly in several of the boxes......then switch back to the interview to see if it lets you back in using the interview that way.....because there are some critical follow-up questions that have to be answered.  Those extra questions are not so easily answered directly on the form itself.

The Y2025 turbotax has a bug and the experts are either not resolving the bug ir pretending they dont understand the question. I have several 1099R showing from Y24. I want to edit info in those 1099R. Deleting and adding creates extra work especially if you have multiple 1099Rs. Please look into the problem and tell me how to edit rather than delete and add. Otherwise, it is a shame on Turbotax part!

TurboTax still has not fixed this problem but you can still edit or delete the 1099-R.  There is no visible icons showing up next to the 1099-R but if you move your cursor to the right of the 1099-R you want to work on, you will see your cursor pointer change.  There are two invisible icons you can choose.  The first icon to the right of the 1099-R is for editing and the second icon is for deleting.  TurboTax does not make it easy to report problems and they don't seem to care.  Hope this helps you.  I did not want to delete and add the 1099-R so I was lucky to discover the invisible icons.

When you click into the 1099-R section, you'll see the 1099-R Summary.  Use the pencil icon to edit, trash can icon to delete.  If you don't see this, you may need to adjust your screen resolution.
