How do you stop turbo tax from asking for a w-2 form if you only have a 1099?

I only have a 1099 form and turbotax wants a w-2 form. What do I do?

Simply ignore any requests to enter a W-2 - it's not required.

One thought: did you have a W-2 last year and did you use TurboTax in 2019?

If so, then the text of the W-2 was carried over from 2019, and TurboTax will want to you to complete the 2020 W-2.

Of course, if you don't have a W-2 for 2020, you will need to delete that fragment of a W-2.

To do that, do a Search (upper right) for w-2 and click on the jump-to link (Mac users will have to find W-2 in the Topics List). NOTE: just type the w-2 and hit Enter - ignore all the suggested Search terms.

If you see an W-2 here, then remove it with the Delete button or the trash can icon.
