How do I find out what type of income is on a 1099-nec form if I don't know what it is?

The form is from my university, and I have a feeling it's from a tuition reimbursement but I'm not fully sure. I don't see reasons listed for this.

If you do not know what the payment represents, then you should contact the institution or business who issued the Form 1099-NEC to you. It is better to know what it is so that you can report it correctly.

I currently receive Disability from the VA. It is considered total and permanent but I did not retire. Do I add this under Permanent Disability Retirement Income?
