RE:  Answer to my question--How do I re-characterize the excess 2018 contributions that I made to my IRA? from TurboTax DawnC.   Answer not helpful.  How do I figure out excess amount?  My financial planner says I need to re-characterize to figure out excess amount.  You say I can't and need to tell you the excess amount.  WHAT DO I DO??

You can either remove the excess contributions the program told you about  by 4/15   OR  make them a 2018 contribution ... talk to the IRA custodian  to see what is best for you and to get it completed. 

And stop opening new questions it gets confusing.
