How do I enter a negative number into turbo tax? My niece received a SSA-1099 where she repaid benefits of $1,119.00. In box 5 is shows $($1,119.00).

Turbo tax will not let me enter a negative number. Suggestions please.

If she is itemizing, she can deduct that amount on Schedule A if she included that amount in gross income in an earlier year.

In any case , just don't enter that box.
