Hello my dad is retired and receives social security so does my mom on his behalf. I help them out since what they receive isn't enough. can I claim them?

If you provide more than half of their support and they each earn less than $4,050 in 2016, you can claim them both as dependents.

Their social security benefits do not count towards the $4,050 limit. They do not have to live with you.
