For an Oklahoma return, how do I designate that my civil service retirement is composed of 84% CSRS and 16% FERS?

Part III of the Oklahoma "Retirement worksheet" line three has a 100% exclusion percentage for civil service retirement.  That is true for CSRS and it is 0% for FERS.  I receive both.  The '100%' should be variable to permit this.  Otherwise, the OK tax form cannot be completed using TurboTax.

When you enter the 1099-Rs in the federal program, you need to complete the interview by continuing through all the screens.  One of them asks you to select the source of the distribution and the list to choose from contains several items related to OK, including one that says,"Does not qualify for the Oklahoma exclusion."  You need to complete the federal entries correctly in order for your state return to be accurate.

Doesn't Oklahoma issue you a 1099 form for your retirement payout? If part is taxable, and part is not, the 1099 should contain enough information to enable you to know how to report this to the state. If not, is there anyone at their office you can call to ask about it? If not, sometimes I call a local CPA and they are usually glad to answer a simple question like this.

@tkj99

FYI...CSRS  and FERS are both Federal retirement systems...but yes, the feds issue 1099-R forms for them....sometime in late January.
