The system is set up to treat every retirement account the same. In this case just enter the amount from box 1 of the 1099-R as the RMD.
It asks me what she did with the money then when I choose other it says not to efile yet. never had this issue in all the years I have been doing her taxes.
Make sure when entering the 1099-R for the New York Pension Income that the 'IRA' box is not checked, so you won't get the RMD questions.
On the screen where it asks what she did with the money, your choices are 'Rollover to another account' or 'did something else with it'. If you chose 'something else' are you getting an error message there? If so, please give details and we'll try to help.
If you're getting the message 'not to Efile yet' when trying to Efile your Federal and New York returns, there may be a form in your return that's not ready yet. Here's a link to NY forms Availability and Federal Tax Form Availability.
If you're using TurboTax Online, close the program, clear your Cache and Cookies and return to the 1099-R section. You could also Delete the 1099-R and re-enter it.
Here's how to Contact TurboTax Support.

But it is not like an Ira or anything. It is her monthly New York State pension retirement check payment like how she gets a social security check. Same thing she has been getting for 32 years that I have been doing her taxes. She is in her 90’s and nothing has changed at all in all those years. There is NO RMD’s to take.
Be sure that the IRA box is not checked on your 1099-R entry.
