I can't find a way to get the qcd amount into my tax return. The dialogue box doesn't come up to give me a choice as some of the "answers" to similar questions indicate. I can't enter it directly into the box on the form. How do I get the amount included in my tax return?

I recommend you delete the 1099-R you have already entered into TurboTax and re-enter from scratch. To report a QCD in the 1099-R entry section.
While entering your form 1099-R, if you have entered a birth date which makes you older than 70 1/2 in the tax year, TurboTax will ask you if any portion of your distribution was transferred to charity. You can then enter the amount transferred to charity.
The code in box 7 of form 1099-R must be 7 and the little IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box must be checked. A IRA QCD should be 0 taxable on 1040 line 4b and the QCD box checked. Unless you have other 1099R taxable amounts on 4b. You can’t do a QCD from a 401K.
