Those (contributions to 529 plans) do not get entered on the federal return. Most states allow a credit for contributions to education saving plans, but each state has different rules and requirements for those deductions. Where, or on which state return, are you trying to enter your contributions?
This was for the Illinois tax return. TurboTax support stated that TurboTax has a 10 contribution entry limit with its tax turn preparation program, so if a taxpayer needs to use make more than 10 contribution entries, they cannot do so with TurboTax and will need to file the state tax return in some other manner (i.e., with another tax preparation return provider or directly with the state).
I would make a whitepaper statement showing all your contributions, and stick that in your personal tax file. Then, I would consolidate the entries into one total and enter that total in the Illinois interview (if that's where you were doing it).
If Illinois ever writes you and asks about it, you can send them a copy of your whitepaper statement, with the explanation that your tax software would not allow more than ten entries, so this was your workaround.
