Does anyone know if your refund shown on TurboTax will reflect the amount granted before OR after it being offset?

I owe some state taxes from last years tax season, and this year i was able to claim my child, earning the $2000 tax credit.. however, my return, according to my Turbo Tax account is less than $2000. Does that mean that it's reflecting the offset already or is it incorrect?

Refund offsets are not included in a tax return, Federal or State.  If back taxes are owed then the authority for the tax refund will offset any refund after the tax return is received by the tax authority.

No.  Turbo Tax does not know anything about any offsets or things you owe for federal or state.   That is just the end result of your 2022 return.  Check it over.  You must owe some tax on your current income that the child tax credit didn't cover.

Of the $2000 CTC only a max of $1500 can be included in your refund.  Review the return carefully to see how the credit limitations on the form 8812 is calculated this year.

What is reflected in TurboTax would not have any offset reflected.

Once your return is processed, the IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.

The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.
