If you are filing a joint tax return then ALL of your combined income must be entered on the return. What kind of benefits are you asking about? Do you mean Social Security benefits? Or something else?
If the 'spousal benefits' you are referring to are considered alimony, this should be reported as income if the divorce or separation agreement is executed by December 31, 2018.
If not, please clarify the type of spousal benefits you received.
