Yes, it is taxable. You should receive a 1099 R with the information from the payer of the Estate or 401K payer, please use this document as you complete your return. The way to enter in TurboTax is included below. I am really so sorry to hear about your loss.

2. Wages and Income
3. Select Jump to Full list OR
4. Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
5. Select IRA, 401(k), Pension Plans (1099-R)
