Are you having taxes withheld from your Social Security payments?

Unless you have taxable earned income you are not eligible for the refundable child-related credits such as the additional child tax credit or earned income credit. Social Security benefits will not qualify you to get any sort of refund for claiming dependent children. Sorry.
