Can I file Form 1099 for former wife maintenance and support payments with my 2016 Turbo Tax.

FOR TAX YEAR 2016

The 1099 is NEVER used to report alimony paid .... if you paid it then simply enter it on the form 1040 along with the spouse's name & SS#  so the IRS can cross reference your deduction to their reported income.

To report Alimony Paid -

·       Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)

·       Click on Deductions and Credits

·       Click on I'll choose what I work on

·       Scroll down to Other Deductions and Credits

·       On Alimony Paid, click the start or update button

To report Alimony Received -

·       Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)

·       Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)

·       Click on I'll choose what I work on

·       Scroll down to Less Common Income

·       On Alimony Received, click the start or update button

No. Unless specifically stated otherwise in a court degree, alimony is tax deductible to the payor and taxable income to the recipient. Child support is NOT tax deductible by the payor.
