Can I deduct Teacher Retirement System contributions for the state of Georgia as "other subtractions from Georgia Income" on my state returns?

The only subtraction from Georgia Income for Teacher Retirement Contributions  is the teacher’s retirement adjustment for contributions paid between July 1, 1987, and December 31, 1989, if the contributions were previously taxed by Georgia. This is used to calculate the taxable portion of retirement benefits, for individuals who paid tax on those contributions during that period. It's not for current contributions.
