Can I contribute to a Roth IRA (any amount) if I max out my 401k? I max'd out the last 3 years and I file as single.

Nowhere doe that article say that you can't contributed to a Roth IRA if you max out your 401(k).  A Roth 401(k) is not a Roth IRA.  You are eligible to contribute to a Roth IRA if you have supporting compensation (you would have supporting compensation if you did not defer all of your wages to the 401(k)) and your modified AGI for the purpose is less than the threshold above which you are not eligible to contribute to a Roth IRA.
