Boxes 5, 6, and 7 in Form 1099-NEC are used to list your state tax withholding, your state name and state ID, and the total income received at that state. You should only list the state once with all the corresponding information. If you have an additional state, then you would add that state separately.
If you have amounts for the same state listed twice, then you will need to combine them. Add the state withheld and list it on Box 5 and the amount for state income on Box 7.
We are in TX there are no state taxes, so If I leave them blank it won't take the information. If I put TX in one and not the other, it won't take that either... What do I do?
What information won't it take if you leave them blank? Nothing at all should be in box 5, 6 or 7 if you are in TX.
