I am filling married joint. ssa 1099 box 5 is 5 years of benefits  do I report the full amount in 2018 or break it down in prior years

You will answer you have payment for prior year and TurboTax will ask for the amount from each year in the 2018 TurboTax and then it will compute the correct tax on the 2018 return.
