Are stocks transferred to the heirs considered a distribution that should be reported on the estate taxes and K-1?
The stocks were transferred not sold and then cash provided to heirs. Same question for sale of coins and distribution of cash to the heirs.

Yes, the distribution of stock to heirs of an estate should be reported on the tax return and the beneficiaries K-1s. The same for sales of assets, and the corresponding distribution of cash - both events should be reported.
