Any workarounds other than delete and rekey the 1099 R's manually? I have a code B that is not being recognized during the final review and stops me from submitting

It's related to a roth 401K, was marked as roth in the follow up question and during the review is still choking on this one form (I had 4 to enter, the rest are okay).

Any workarounds other than delete and rekey the 1099 R's manually? I have a code B that is not being recognized during the final review and stops me from submitting

You can try the steps listed below to resolve this.

  1. Click on Search at the top right of your TurboTax screen
  2. Type Form 1099-R in the search box and Enter
  3. Click on the link that says Jump to Form 1099-R
  4. Your screen will say Your 1099-R Summary. Click on the pencil icon next to the Form 1099-R you want to edit
  5. Make sure that the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE Box is not checked on the Form 1099-R input screen
  6. If you have an additional code such as B2 try entering them as "B" in the first code box and "2" (or whatever the other code is) in the second code box, rather than trying to combine them as B2. You will have to check the box that says I have more than one value in Box 7
  7. Continue through the TurboTax screens until you see the screen that asks "Was this a distribution from a Roth IRA?" you must answer NO.(as this is a Roth 401K plan and not a Roth IRA)
  8. Continue through ALL of the rest of the follow-up screens
  9. Run the final review again.

If this does not help the best way to fix this would be to delete that form 1099-R and enter it manually.  Make sure you are answering the ROth IRA question No.

If you are using TurboTax Online you can delete your Form 1099-R as follows:

  1. Go to "Tax Tools" in your left panel of your TurboTax screen, then
  2. Select "Tools" and
  3. under "Other Helpful Links
  4. select "Delete a Form."
  5. This will bring up all of your forms and you can click on "Delete" next to the Form "1099-R" that you want to delete.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can delete your Form 1099-R as follows:

  1. Click on "Forms" on the top right of your screen to bring up  "Forms Mode
  2. Choose your "Form 1099-R" from the list of forms in the left panel of your TurboTax screen
  3. Use the "Delete Form" option at the bottom of your Form 1099-R that is displayed in your right panel of your TurboTax screen
  4. Select "Yes" to confirm the deletion of this form

You can get back to your Form 1099-R screens in TurboTax as follows to re-enter your Form 1099-R:

  1. Click on Search at the top right of your TurboTax screen
  2. Type Form 1099-R in your search box
  3. Click on the link Jump to Form 1099-R
  4. You will be able to re-enter your Form 1099-R on the following screens
  5. Make sure to answer all of the follow-up question

I suspect that you mistakenly answered Yes when asked if this distribution was from a Roth IRA.  A designated Roth account in a 401(k), indicated by the code B, is not a Roth IRA, so you must answer No to this unnecessary question asked by TurboTax.
