All of my income is from non taxable GI Bill payments, does that mean my Roth IRA investments will be penalties?

I've invested 50$ a month into the Roth so 600$ for the year but have been living solely off the post 9/11 GI Bill. I don't remember this being a problem before, but this year my investments have exceeded my income?

Of your nontaxable military pay, only nontaxable combat pay (earned while stationed in a designated combat zone in service to the U.S. military) is considered compensation that will support an IRA contribution.  If you've made IRA contributions that are not supported by compensation, you must obtain an explicit return of contribution (not a regular distribution) to undo the contribution.
