There have been major changes in the tax laws and in the tax forms. But if your income is that low you might not even need to file a tax return.

There is no live chat. Did you try using the IRS questions to see if you need to file?

You need to file a federal return if HALF your Social Security plus your other income is $25,000 when filing single or head of household, or $32,000 when filing married filing jointly, $0 if you are filing married filing separately.

why are you trying to extort money from me for an upgrade when my income has not changed from 2017. The least you can do is let me download my 2017 AGI return for free so that I can use another service to fie.

Again---if your income is that low and is mostly from Social Security then you do not have to file a tax return. There is nothing you have to do to "get exempt." But if you just really want to file anyhow, then use this alternate software version that will be free. You will need to use a different account and user ID.

If you do not have your 2017 AGI then you can print, sign and mail your 2018 return instead of e-filing it. We have no ability from the Answer Xchange to access your 2017 return or find your 2017 AGI for you.
