Are you using TurboTax Online? If so, you may be able to remove the form by following these steps:
- Down the left side of the screen, click on Tax Tools.
- Click on Tools.
- Click on Delete a form.
- Find the form listed and click Delete to the right.
In TurboTax Desktop, you are able to remove a form by:
- Selecting FORMS in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
- Select the correct form in the listing on the left side of the screen.
- Select Delete Form at the bottom of the screen.
Page 1 of IRS form 8949 Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets reports short-term gains or losses.
Page 2 of IRS form 8949 Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets reports long-term gains or losses.
The TurboTax software assigns the gains and losses to page 1 or page 2 on the basis of long-term and short-term.
- Short-term gains or losses come from the sale of investments owned one year or less.
- Long-term gains or losses come from the sale of investments held more than one year.
If an investment is reported on the wrong page, review the Purchase date and Date sold in the investment entry.
