My 2021 1099-R includes an amount that was distributed to me in 2021 for the 401K plan failing it's 2020 discrimination testing. The test was subsequently revised during the year and I returned a portion of the distribution back to the 401K plan during 2021 so that it would not be taxable. 401K plan says the 1099R is correct as is and we need to adjust the amount when we file our taxes. Where in the forms do I do that?

If the 401(k) plan reduce the amount that was required to be distributed due to discrimination testing and the Form 1099-R still reflects the original amount, they MUST issue a corrected Form 1099-R showing the correct net amount that was required to have been distributed because no part of a distribution shown with code 8 or code P on a Form 1099-R is permitted to be reported as rolled over.
If the plan refuses to make the correction, you'll need to file a substitute Form 1099-R (Form 4852) showing the correct amount with explanation.
