To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.

To enter your 1099-R:

Sign into your return and select the 'take me to my return' button
Type '1099-R' in the search box, then select the 'jump to' link

If your state offers any exemptions for military retirement, you will see those in the follow up questions.

In the federal interview, be sure after enter your 1099-R information, you select any applicable boxes in the follow up questions. Then, as you go through the state interviews you will be asked about your retirement income if the your state offers exemptions.
